ECON – Training for involving young people in Community Organizing activities
- Description: it’s a project developed by Romanian Association for Counseling and Support – under of the Youth in Action Program, measure 4.3, which was implemented between April and July 2009. The project covered the need of young people to involve in the social life of their community and resolving its problems. There are 4 european countries from which young people, members of ECON organizations, was involved in this project: Germany, Hungary, Slovakia, Romania
- Aim of the project: Increasing number of young people involved in the life of community and in solving its problems using CO model.
- Objectives: To develop knowledge and skills in order to be able to use CO model for solving the local problems for 24 participants from the 4 countries of the EU in 7 days of training; To plann a strategy to develop the CO process in 8 communities (2 for each participant).
- Activities: preparation of the project, E-meetings-with all project team in every stage of the project, realizing of training curriculum, training course, editing a documentary model film and brochures (500 copies), evaluation of the course and the project
- Results: 24 practitioners in community organizing have the abilities to organize and activate the groups of young people; 8 plans of initiation of a community organization process in 8 communities of the 4 countries; the strengthen ties between the members of ECON – a first step to a strong community organisation network in Europe; documentary film about the “birth” of community organization; curriculum for a training on community organizationParteners: Dorcas Aid Hungary, Dikonisches Werk Oldenburg, Centre for Community Organising
- Donor: The project has a budget 22.955 Euro and 18.944 of them are financed by Youth in Action, under Measure 4.3
